Christian Gruber and Peter
Maklar visit Heidi Schmidt and Klaus Wolfgang Wildner
Christian Gruber and Peter Maklar visited
Heidi Schmidt and Klaus Wolfgang Wildner. The evening started at 8 p.m.
and came to and end in the early morning hours on January 15, 2005, at
4 a.m. As the atmosphere was very relaxed, time passed very quickly.
The virtuoso guitar duo met rare and historical instruments.
This alone may be called an event. Although this does not explain what
really happened. Five persons in a room who couldn´t stop marveling,
that´s how you can describe this evening.
Christian Gruber, Peter Makler,
Augustin Wiedemann, Heidi Schmidt and Klaus Wolfgang Wildner jointly
experienced new ways in the range of guitaristic; for each of them unimagined
horizons of playing the guitar opened up. “Gruber & Maklar“ tested
and played two quint bass guitars. These instruments were completely
unknown to the two virtuosi ... and the quint bass guitars didn´t know
what one can accomplish with them. Furthermore, various guitars were
tried out in different combinations, including instruments of Hermann
Hauser,
Ignazio
Fleta and Enrice Garcia. It´s not a secret to announce that there hasn´t
been any public opportunity to listen to “Gruber & Maklar“ in
such an outstanding variety of sound. That´s why they decided to catch
up on that. As for the fascination regarding the quint bass guitars,
Christian Gruber and Peter Makler share this unusually positive experience
with Los Romeros, Eliot Fisk, Barbara Polasek, Augustin
Wiedemann and actually with every guitarist who ever had a chance to
hold one of these unique instruments in his hands. Quickly the idea of
offering these instruments - with this unexplainable, pleasant sound
- to a broad public emerged. Christian Gruber was bewitched by a "mystical"
sound that prevented him from sleeping even after 4 a.m.
Christian Gruber and Peter
Makler are very pleased by the formation of the Foundation. They could
almost somatically experience the impulses coming from that association
on that evening.
We are very much looking forward to future projects. In order to represent
the Department of chamber music in the best way possible, they will
invaluably contribute to the Foundation´s university.
It was a wonderful, "mystical" evening.
