HHGF donates a concert guitar to the children aid program in Ecuador

HHGF director Masayuki Kato presented a concert guitar for the special school for handycapped children to professor Stücher in Minnesota/USA on June 6, 2005. Professor Stücher, psychologist and guitarist, was born in Germany, studied in Frankfurt and received a scholarship for Havard University in 1975. His professorship for life in Minnesota does not prevent the 64-year-old from managing the aid program in Ecuador for several months a year.

Everything started with an extra-mural professorship in the scope of the USA Filbright Program in Ecuador. It´s the grievous neediness and poverty and the hunger, especially among children, that have made him work with much commitment for the aid program in Ecuador for 25 years now. Handicapped children receive special benefit from him. He established a special school for them, and the HHGF concert guitar is supposed to support his work, that is taking care of these children. We are glad to attend his great concern with a small donation.
Director Masayuki Kato made a four day visit to Minnesota and is very impressed by professor Stücher´s achievements. He compares professor Stücher´s role in Ecuador to Albert Schweitzer´s role in Africa.
Insterestingly, it was Albert Schweitzer´s assistant Dr. Takahashi who had advised Masauyki Kato to go to Germany some 30 years ago, and it´s him he learnt a lot from about Albert Schweitzer´s work.
